Who Are We

This Web site (https://contendingforthefaith.org) is owned by Defense and Confirmation Project (DCP). DCP was formed in 2001 with a mission to defend and confirm the New Testament ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee and the practice of the local churches. These two faithful servants of the Lord stood on the shoulders of many great Christian teachers from the past twenty centuries to greatly advance the opening of God’s Word in three key areas:

  • The subjective experience of the Divine Trinity who is embodied in Christ and realized as the Spirit to carry out His economy to produce and build up the Body of Christ (Col. 2:9; Eph. 3:8; 2 Cor. 3:17; Phil. 1:19; Eph. 3:9; 1:22b-23; 4:15-16);
  • God’s complete salvation, including the judicial redemption He accomplished through His death and the organic salvation He is carrying out in His life (Rom. 5:10); and
  • The practice of the unique oneness of the Body of Christ, which encompasses all believers, on the ground of locality, that is, in local churches established city by city (Rom. 12:5; 1 Cor. 12:12; Acts 8:1; 13:1; 1 Cor. 1:2; Rev. 1:11).

These three items are indispensable to the accomplishment of God’s eternal purpose, the good pleasure of His heart (Eph. 3:11; 1:9), and hence are a crucial part of the good news of the gospel. With that realization DCP takes Paul’s words in Philippians 1:7 as a charge to join with the Lord’s servants “in the defense and confirmation of the gospel.” Regrettably, some who have only a narrow and partial understanding of objective biblical truth and little, if any, knowledge of the subjective truths in the Scripture, much less their application in the believers’ experience, have opposed and misrepresented the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee. This website addresses criticisms of those who oppose these vital truths while also demonstrating the invaluable contributions of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee in their service to their Master. This website also provides historical accounts of dialogues with prominent Christian scholars and apologists who came to appreciate those contributions and to recognize the orthodoxy and orthopraxy of the local churches.
